Florida Keys Celtic Festival Hosts 1st Annual Summer Kilts in the Keys Party
Marathon, Florida, July 26, 2015 – Please join The Florida Keys Celtic Festival for the 1st Annual Summer Kilts in the Keys Party, August 9, 2015, from 1-7pm, at Herbie’s Bar & Chowder House, 6350 Overseas Hwy in Marathon.
The all-day event will be great craic (a Celtic word meaning “a good time”) for the whole family. Activities for kids, including a bounce house, will be featured from 1-5pm. Then, beginning at 5pm, Ty Billings, a member of Celtic Mayhem, will perform and play a selection of songs from festival headliners; Albannach, the Screaming Orphans, Rathkeltair, West of Galway, and Marcille Wallis & Friends. Ty is a singer-songwriter, flautist, guitar player and comedian, who earns rave reviews and is a sure crowd-pleaser. There will be door prizes, ale will flow, and food will be plentiful.
Herbie’s has generously pledged proceeds from the party to the Florida Keys Celtic Festival, which in turn supports The Hammock House Youth Programs. After School Care and Just for Fun summer & school break camps – born out of concern for Middle Keys children, where more than 71% of children qualify for Free or Reduced lunch under the USDA Lunch Program, and often lack safe, affordable recreation when school is out of session – provide Marathon kids with a no-cost, healthy place to thrive emotionally, artistically, intellectually and spiritually.
The Florida Keys Celtic Festival, Summer Kilts in the Keys Party and Kilts in the Keys, are produced by St. Columba Episcopal Church in association with Celtic Heritage Productions and the Monroe County Tourist Development Council.
